OCIA
RCIA is now OCIA
We are excited to announce that what was formerly known as RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) is now called OCIA (Order of Christian Initiation of Adults), as directed by the USCCB. This change in terminology better reflects the sacred and structured journey of initiation into the Catholic Church, similar to other sacramental "orders" in the Church. While the name has changed, the purpose and content of the program remain the same, offering a pathway for adults to grow in faith and become full members of our Church community. This update aligns with the Church's ongoing efforts to deepen our understanding of the initiation process.If you, your spouse or someone you know is interested in learning about the Catholic faith, the parish family of St. Lawrence, St. Teresa, St. William, and Resurrection of Our Lord offers a Christian initiation process known as OCIA (Order of Christian Initiation for Adults) that can help you prayerfully discern your faith journey.
While OCIA is generally for adults who wish to enter the Catholic Church and be initiated into the church through the sacrament of baptism, it is also open to those who wish to know more about the teachings of the church and enhance their understanding of the Catholic Faith. OCIA is also open to persons already baptized in other faith traditions who are interested in being received into the Catholic Church.
All are welcome! The OCIA classes are open to anyone age 14 and older starting this September 25.
