Divine Mercy Sunday, April 27, 2014

Devotions following the 11AM Mass

Divine Mercy Sunday is April 27. Join us after the 11:00am Mass (approximately 12:15PM) on the Sunday after Easter, April 27, for a service honoring Divine Mercy. The service will include Benediction, Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, the recitation of the Divine Mercy chaplet, the Divine Praises and other prayers. The Church grants a plenary indulgence to all who would go to Confession* and receive our Lord in Holy Communion on Divine Mercy Sunday. This includes a desire to detach one's self from all sin and to perform acts of mercy throughout the day. (*The Church allows for one to go to Confession for up to about 20 days or 3 weeks before or after Divine Mercy Sunday.)

The Canonization of Two Popes: Popes John XXIII and John Paul II will be canonized, that is, added to the official list of saints on Sunday, April 27th in Rome. This is a solemn declaration by the Church that they have received the salvation promised to us in Jesus and are enjoying it even now. This is the first time two popes have been canonized together. EWTN is televising the event with a re-airing later in the day. It's worth watching!

OOOPS! The time of the St. William EASTER VIGIL published in the Catholic Telegraph is wrong. The correct time is 9:00PM, in accord with the liturgical norms.

Mary Day at St. William: Our St. William School students, parents and teachers will celebrate Mary Day on Friday, May 2. All day long special events will take place honoring the Mother of God, including the Living Rosary at 10:00am in the school yard (weather permitting) and our annual May Crowning ceremony. The procession from the school to the church begins at 1:45pm and the ceremony begins at 2:00pm. All are invited to come and celebrate with us Our Lady's special day!

Knights to Lead Rosary: The Mother Seton Council Knights of Columbus will lead the Faithful in praying the Rosary before all Masses on May 3 & 4, and again on May 24 & 25. Come early and bring your rosaries!

Divine Mercy Group: Join us on Sunday, May 3, following the 11:00am Mass (approximately 12:15pm) to pray the Divine Mercy chaplet in honor of Divine Mercy. We gather in front of church by the Divine Mercy image.

Catholic Relief Services, May 3 & 4: This Collections supports six Catholic agencies that touch more than 100 million lives around the world.
