Admissions Policy of St. William School
In accord with the Christian philosophy and goals of our school:
No student may be excluded from St. William School solely because of race, color, religion, national origin or ancestry.
Admission shall not be based solely on ability or achievement.
We accept the positive obligation from the Gospel message to promote and encourage integration in order to help provide for the total educational experiences of student in the school.
Students who are not members of the parish or tributary parishes and anyone who, in the opinion of the Principal seek admission to avoid desegragation are not to be accepted.
Selection of Students
Only those pupils should be admitted to the school who give promise of being capable of successfully completing the educational program of the school.
Serious efforts must be made to seek out and admit minority students.
Selection of students when all applying cannot be accommodated:
When more qualified students apply for admission to school than can be accomodated, the election of those to be admitted must not discriminate against any group or individual.
Attendance at St. William School is to be extended in the following order of priority:
First to Catholic students whose families are active members (worshipping and contributing) of the parish;
Then to siblings of those students already in the school;
Next to children who have completed kindergarten in the school; and finally
To non-parishioners
All new students are accepted on probation.
New students will be evaluated following attendence for one quarter. A process is followed, evaluating academic, disciplinary and attendence standards. In the event that a student is unable to comply with those guidlines, the evaluation might include seeking enrollement at a different
school.
Approved by Education Commission on December 6, 1994.
